Description
Such an outstanding foundation for a top-class restoration is truly a rare find! A Mercedes 250 SL that has apparently never suffered from rust or any kind of welding repairs. That is extremely unusual !
The exterior paint in medium gray metallic, code 178, is so rare that in over thirty years of dealing with Pagodas, we have only ever seen this one single example that came with this paint finish from the factory.
The leather color, code 232, was also unprecedented. The combination suits the 250 SL perfectly!
The current owner kept the car for about ten years without ever starting the restoration. The car has a good patina, but is not rusty, and has even been exhibited several times. Among other things, it was a real highlight and loan at the Mercedes Pagoda Club's booth at the trade fair. Our 250 SL project was probably one of the most photographed classic cars at the fair back then! Best regards !
The author himself exhibited this 250 SL at the Stadtpark Revival classic car race in Hamburg a few years ago – driving it himself !
This 113 model has been in the same family in California its entire life. We are currently searching for documentation of this. The original US title and a data card are available.
