Description
Here we can offer a very special classic car: A Mercedes-Benz 320 Cabrio B from 1939!
It was probably first registered in Germany in 1939. There is a record of registration in Norway from 1946. There in the north, the car changed hands several times until it was sold to the honorary president of the Mercedes Club Norway (Mercedes-Benz Klubben Norge) in 1989.
The collection of the 320 convertible in 1989 by the club president is documented with a few photos. A beautiful Mercedes pontoon served as the towing vehicle for the real barn find !
The dismantling of the convertible soon began and the Norwegian reworked the chassis, engine, axles, gearbox and some of the chrome parts. Everything with the necessary calm and care.
But plans and circumstances change and so the owner from Stavanger decided with a heavy heart to hand over the Mercedes in 2015.
It was purchased by a regular customer of ours who, with the help of the seller, received an export permit from Norway and was then able to place a restoration order in 2016.
The restorer has taken various photos of his efforts, all of which are in paper form and / or on CD in the vehicle file and will of course be given to the buyer.
Rebuilding such a car requires great skill, experience - and time. Our magnificent convertible was completed in 2023, the first 1,000 kilometers have been covered, but in the case of our client the circumstances have also changed and so we can now offer this fantastic Mercedes 320 Cabrio B !
The engine runs absolutely impressively clean and quiet. The 12-volt on-board electrical system is very helpful for easier starting after a long period of standstill and is supplemented by an additional, electrically operated fuel pump that pre-delivers fuel to start the engine.
The gearbox can be shifted wonderfully precisely.
The trim work (the material comes from the Steenbuck company !) was carried out excellently with a lot of expertise.
The wood in the interior is simply flawless. The instruments work as they should.
The wood of the body was completely reworked / renewed to the highest level, as evidenced today by cleanly closing doors, perfectly aligned lines and curves and extremely even gaps.
The excellent dark blue paintwork suits the Mercedes perfectly and is complemented very elegantly by the light gray leather, carpet and hood.
Since this is a car manufactured in Mannheim and all data cards of the Mercedes manufactured there were unfortunately destroyed, we have to rely on the photos of the unrestored barn find that are fortunately available. There you can also see the convertible in a shade of blue with light gray leather.
