Description
Only 278 Lagonda LG 45s, including 25 Rapides, were completed between 1935 and 1937. According to the Lagonda Club, only 93 of these are known to have survived the world's production run today.
We have the great honor of being able to offer one of these rare LG 45s from a long-term owner (28 years!).
The body is likely a factory body, skillfully designed by Frank Feely, the company's own designer.
The British magazine "THE AUTOCAR" reported on the new Lagonda LG 45 in 1935: "All the performance that anyone can reasonably require, and at the same time has been silenced, smoothed out and made a much more comfortable car, so that in comparison with the earlier versions it is hardly recognizable on first driving it."
Indeed, this nearly 90 (!) year-old Lagonda is an astonishingly agile car, which, with a practiced hand, can be driven quite briskly. Added to this is the captivating exhaust note, typical of sports cars of this provenance!
As befits such an automotive dream, this red work of art exudes a wonderful scent of leather, oil, rubber... simply driving pleasure!
To our great delight, the pedals have been redesigned and arranged in such a way that you press the correct pedal even in the most hectic situations: clutch on the left, brake in the middle, accelerator on the far right. The factory layout was different, which could lead to some astonishing experiences for a novice today.
The speedometer scale thankfully displays kilometers, not miles, which is a great help when traveling in continental Europe.
The leather has a beautiful patina. The engine runs perfectly, and the Maedows 4-speed transmission shifts very precisely.
Fresh tires were recently installed, the fuel tank was overhauled, and the MOT was renewed.
The current owner has taken this car on numerous tours through Europe with his friend Bernd Holthusen. This friend also advised the owner upon purchasing this gem.
