The Mercedes-Benz W 120 was the first passenger car from Mercedes-Benz with a self-supporting body. The model of the upper middle class came in 1953 as the successor to the 170 (W 136) on the market and was sold under the designations Mercedes 180. To date, the car is also known as the Little Ponton Mercedes. Successor of the W 120 and its sister model W 121 became the 1961 presented "small tailfin" of the series W 110.
As the first pontoon appeared in September 1953, the Mercedes 180th He took over from the predecessor Mercedes 170 S, the 1.8-liter engine with 52 hp (38 kW).
