Description
We rarely see such a vehicle file. Not only is the original brochure available, but also the copy for ordering the Imp Buggy kit and the associated order confirmation.
An original letter from Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg dated September 25, 1969 confirms which two dealers had been selected to sell the dune buggies at that time. Only one of these is for the sale of the Imp buggies.
Further letters are available. Among others from Wilhelm Karmann GmbH, the Südhannover / Imp car dealership, TÜV Hannover, etc.
There are also price lists, drawings for building the buggy and the like. The fact that all of these papers have been preserved is extremely unusual and extremely gratifying !
The cost of the kit in July 1970 was exactly DEM 3,417.47 plus the required VW Beetle chassis. The customer was a large VW dealer in Gifhorn, who then built the buggy and registered it on September 4th, 1970 in his own name.
In the original cardboard cover vehicle registration document, the name of this company is noted as the manufacturer of the buggy, and VW was listed as the manufacturer of the engine. The engine number H1202563 noted in the vehicle registration document can still be found on the car's engine today !
An original of the conversion instructions for the VW chassis is also included in the file.
Apparently the buggy remained in the possession of the conscious VW dealer until 2001. Only then was it sold to a collector in Gifhorn, who had the buggy in his care until 2022.
The car has been in the hands of the current owner since July 2022, on whose behalf we are now offering the VW Imp Buggy.
The registered empty weight of the buggy is only 600 kilograms and it's amazing how much fun 44 HP can be under this circumstance !
