Model History
The Mercedes-Benz SLK is a model range introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1996. The SLK is a roadster that is smaller and cheaper than the well-known Mercedes SL. Although Mercedes does not officially understand the name SLK as an abbreviation, it is often combined with Sporty, Light, Compact.
A special feature of the SLK is the folding steel roof, which Daimler also calls the "Vario roof".
The engine in the SLK 320 corresponds to the 3.2-litre six-cylinder V engine with three valves per cylinder and dual ignition known from other series.
