Model History
The 300 CE-24 Cabriolet, another bodywork variant of the 124 series, was presented in September 1991 at the IAA. The development of the convertible was based on the coupe. To ensure torsional rigidity, about 1,000 parts have been redesigned or redesigned. Partly supporting sheets had to be made of higher quality material.
The convertible was offered from the end of 1991 in Germany (and other continental European countries) initially only with the already expiring in other models 3-liter four-valve engine as 300 CE-24.
With the MOPF 2, the aforementioned six-cylinder models were replaced by the E 320 worldwide, while the convertible now (except North America and Japan) was also available with four-cylinder engines, namely as E 200 in southern Europe (from 1994 also offered in Germany) and E 220 in the other states.
